Due to the pandemic, most of us are stuck at home. Being in an Asian household, I am stuck at home with my family. Admittedly, before the pandemic, the only time that I’m truly together with my family would only be during dinner time or when we are about to go to sleep. We tend to have our own routines and just revolve around those most of the time.

However, since we are forced to spend more time together, we get to notice these small things about each other that we’ve never seen before even though we’ve been living together our whole lives.

No matter how much anyone would say that they love their family, it would be a lie to completely like everything about them. There’s always one, two, or a list of things that they do which completely annoys the hell out of you. Nonetheless, we accept them for who they are and just get past these antics even if they drive us crazy sometimes.

This actually reminds me of a quote from the movie How to be Single,

“You like because. You love despite.”

We usually like people based on the good things that we see from them. However, we can say that we truly love a person once we see their not-so-good side but voluntary still willing to be with them.

So, the next time that your loved ones forgot to cap the toothpaste properly or forgot to put down the toilet seat, feel free to mention it to them and share the reason why you prefer it a certain way. It is up to them though to take your preference or keep theirs. Nonetheless, try not blow up over these small antics and focus on the important details like what made you love them in the first place.
