What ‘Jack of All Trades’ really means

I am today years old when I discovered that I had been using this quote WRONG all my life.

“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” The full quote was actually meant to compliment, not criticize, people who are generalists and are skillful at many things.
